Perhaps one of the best breeds! I have had many I loved them all but my golden seems to stand out! Byast I guess so lol!

I have actually looked at the records of the breed in which breeds were used in the make up of the golden. The St. Johns Water Dog is the ancestor of the retrievers. Nous, the first golden, was 3/4 St. Johns Water Dog and 1/4 Setter (of some type). There are, however, no written records for the bloodhound, and it is included in the record as a matter of hearsay. It wouldn't make sense that anyone breeding a retriever would cross in a dog that lacks biddability, like the bloodhound.
